There seems like no better way to “kick off” the new PX Travel Journal than to talk about our absolute highpoint so far:  Marshall Charloff & The Purple xPeRIeNCE at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison Colorado.

Red Rocks is a geological gift to mankind—a mountain basin that naturally created a heart-stoppingly beautiful backdrop that simultaneously delivers absolutely magical musical resonance.  There is no substitute for experiencing a concert in that venue.

Marshall and PX launched their sound into that basin, with over 8,000 in attendance on a THURSDAY—all on their feet and dancing, of course.  It marked the first time that an evening of Prince music was ever played there, and the players played a TIGHT show with explosive energy.  This was no small feat with extremely high altitude.

The concert was broadcast live that evening on the Colorado PBS affiliate, meaning that the band enjoyed HD cameras, massive jumbo-tron screens, and state-of-the-art lighting and production.

We are fortunate to have been given the footage from that evening.  Although the audio is a board mix which doesn’t capture the beautiful resonance of being in the amphitheater, we are grateful to have such a thorough record of that magical night so that we can share it with our FAMS!

It was a great honor to pay tribute to Prince at Red Rocks, and we hope very much for the opportunity to return.
